Section 49 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 read with Rule 29 of Legal Metrology (General) Rules, 2011, provides for – offences by companies and power of the court to publish the name, place of business, etc., for companies convicted. Section 49 also gives you the opportunity to nominate a person to exercise all such powers and take all such steps as may be necessary or expedient to prevent the commission by the company of any offence under the Act.

Companies having different establishments or branches or different units in any establishment or branch can nominate an officer who has the authority and responsibility for planning, directing and controlling the activities of the establishments or branches or different units.
