AYUSH is an abbreviation for Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.
Ayurvedic, Siddha or Unani (ASU) drug includes all medicines intended for internal or external use for or in the diagnosis, treatment, mitigation or prevention of disease or disorder in human beings or animals and manufactured exclusively in accordance with the formulae described in, the authoritative books of Ayurvedic, Siddha and Unani Tibb systems of medicine, specified in the First Schedule. ASU drugs and herbal cosmetics is regulated by Drugs and Cosmetics Acts and Rules.
Manufacturers dealing in Ayurvedic or Herbal products in India are required to obtain license from AYUSH regulated by the Ministry of AYUSH. Manufacturing licenses under AYUSH is obtained from the respective State.
